The Trial

or the plight of Joseph K.

The trial and law have become nightly entertainment: glamorized for TV. These dramas should be private until proof of guilt is agreed . What should be on trial is our own oppression. Oppression that forces us to refuge in non-productive, litigative escapism. The plight of Joseph K is the trial of the oppressed. The National Pastime Theater presents Franz Kafka's "The Trial".

Masterfully adapted by Steven Berkoff and directed by Roger Smart.

Step into the head of the meek - Joseph K. Arrested... apprehended...captured...popped and busted. A very heavy breakfast for the hapless. The plight of Joseph K is the plight of all of us who allow our lives to be smashed under the heels of mediocrity. It is easier to lie still than it is to crawl...stand...run...fight. The plight of all of us who sit at the door-of-possibilities that lie open in our lives, and who are daunted by the fear of the unknown that lies beyond... "BURST THROUGH THE DOORS."
