The anguish of the era is experienced anew as Huey P. Newton's fiery rhetoric rings through the night, battle hymns sung by a man newly infatuated with the pure theology of socialism. During Newton's time in jail, Panther party ideology crumbles from within under the influence of flamboyant image-maker Eldridge Cleaver. This leaves fissures in its ranks that open to insidious government infiltration. Like a killer virus, the FBI invades and mutates, feeding on the insecurities and confusion of party members, ending in an historic tragedy that has shaped our world in imperceptible and disturbing ways.
